December 17, 2019

Program dates: June 11-21, 2020
ENGL3025: Ancient Literature and Heritage (3 credits)
Estimated price: $3800 (see below for EVERYTHING that includes) - first payment of $1000 due January
Application: https://www.fitchburgstate.edu/offices-services-directory/international-education/study-abroad/summer-2020-with-professor-tracy-ancient-literature-heritage-to-jordan/

ENGL 3025 meets the literature (LIT) and global diversity arts (GDA) LAS requirements. English Studies literature majors and minors may also use it for other program requirements with permission of instructor and department chair.

Want to swim in the Dead Sea? Stay in a Bedouin tent under the desert stars? Visit some of the oldest sites in the world? Walk around a Crusader castle? Talk with Jordanian archaeologists and students behind-the-scenes at Petra (of Indiana Jones fame!)? Explore the sites where multiple heritages interact together? Eat traditional food? Wander an open air market in Amman? Look down on the River Jordan from a mountaintop Moses stood upon? See Jesus of Nazareth's baptismal site?

You can do all of this and MUCH more in June 2020! ENGL 3025 English Studies Abroad has partnered with the Integrated Heritage Project (IHP), a nonprofit dedicated to community development and heritage preservation through education, to bring you a study abroad trip of a lifetime to the country of Jordan!

If you also take the course associated with this study abroad, before we go, we will study the ancient and medieval literature, culture, and heritage of Jordan and neighboring areas. Then, when we travel to this very safe country (Jordan has a higher Global Peace Index than the United States!), we will experience this culture and heritage firsthand under the expert guidance of Erin Linn, Executive Director of the Integrated Heritage Project, and Dr. Kisha Tracy, Associate Professor of English Studies at Fitchburg State.
