UM-Flint's Master of Social Work program is offering a new certificate designed to prepare future school social workers in Michigan.

The College of Health Sciences at UM-Flint has launched a new School Social Work pathway within its Master of Social Work program 💙

Designed to prepare future school social workers, the pathway provides specialized training that meets requirements for school social worker certification through the Michigan Department of Education. Graduates will be equipped to support students through advocacy, mental health services, trauma-informed care and collaboration with families and educators.

Created in partnership with community stakeholders and inspired by the Flint Water Crisis Special Education Fund, this pathway helps address the growing need for school social workers across Michigan while supporting children, families and schools in our region.

The College of Health Sciences at UM-Flint is celebrating a major milestone as the first cohort of students graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management program this summer 🎓💻🏥

Designed to prepare future leaders in health data, information security and patient-centered technology, the fully online HIIM program equips students with the skills needed to support the future of healthcare.

From managing medical records and protecting sensitive information to improving healthcare systems through data-driven solutions, these graduates are ready to make an impact.
