We are proud to share that the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies has been featured in QNS following the renewal of a transformative $300,000 state grant! ✨💫

Secured with the support of New York State Senator Michael Gianaris, the Center’s Advisory Board, and the Queens College administration, this funding will directly benefit our students and academic community through undergraduate scholarships, study-abroad assistance, lectures, and expanded research opportunities.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Senator Gianaris and everyone whose continued advocacy and commitment make the Center’s work possible.

The Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies (CBMGS) at Queens College announced on Tuesday, Aug. 11, that it has secured $300,000 in renewed funding.

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of meeting incoming Queens College students during New Student Orientation and sharing more about the Center’s courses, events, and opportunities to get involved.

A special thank-you to Victory Sweet Shop for the delicious koulourakia, which made the day even sweeter! We are also grateful to the Center staff and Ikaros Club representatives who helped make the event possible. ✨

The Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies was delighted to participate in Queens College’s New Student Orientation and welcome entering students as they begin this exciting new chapter. 💙

The event offered an opportunity to introduce students to the Center’s academic programs, resources, and community, and to share the many ways they can become involved.

A heartfelt thank-you to the Center staff and Ikaros Club representatives who helped make our participation possible. 💫

We look forward to meeting even more students at the next New Student Orientation this Wednesday, 08/05!

In honor of Greek Independence, Dr. Fevronia Soumakis, Director of the Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at Queens College, joined the Ikaros Hellenic Orthodox Club of Queens College and the National Hellenic Student Association at the 87th Annual NYC Greek Independence Day Parade on Fifth Avenue.

A beautiful celebration of Hellenic heritage, unity, and tradition, bringing together Greeks and Greek Americans across New York and beyond. 🇬🇷

Deadline extended!

The Center for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies (CBMGS) has extended the deadline for the Scholarships & Awards Application to Sunday, April 26.

Students are invited to apply for a limited number of scholarships and awards for undergraduate students, as well as a grant for CUNY/SUNY graduate students.
