In this video, Jocelyn Howard, an equine science major in the CSU Department of Animal Sciences, discusses her research in PPID, or pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction. Howard and her peers authored a paper earlier this year, published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science about the topic.

Howard was also recently featured in Colorado State University SOURCE, discussing a clinical drug trial she's helping to lead that could prevent persistent breeding-induced endometritis in mares, and someday help humans experiencing unexplained infertility.

Ed Eggers (B.S., agricultural business, ’78) is receiving the College of Agricultural Sciences College Honor Award at the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony today. Ed is recognized for his entrepreneurial leadership, global impact, and commitment to service. After earning his bachelor’s degree in agricultural business in 1978, Eggers spent two decades with DEKALB Genetics, eventually overseeing international operations in more than 50 countries. He later co-owned Sunfield Seeds alongside his wife, Vicki, and built it into a global leader in hybrid sunflower seed production.

Since returning to Colorado, Eggers has strengthened his ties to Colorado State University through philanthropy, industry engagement, and student support, including a scholarship benefiting agricultural sciences students. Congratulations, Ed 🎉

Faculty, students and alumni represented Colorado State University at the American Society of Landscape Architects 2026 Conference in Los Angeles, where landscape architecture alumni Lilliana Lopez, Bianca Ruiz Chavez and Louise Halaburt earned the Award of Excellence in Student Community Service for their project, Labores y Diseños, with guidance from advisor Lindsay Burnette.

The conference also celebrated Lori Cockerham Catalano’s election to the ASLA Council of Fellows, the organization’s highest honor, while Heath Mizer and Kelly Curl shared their expertise by leading sketch sessions for attendees.

Congratulations to all who showcased the strength and impact of CSU’s landscape architecture program!

– CSU-TAPS 2026 planting on May 12!
As we enter fall, we are looking back at highlights from the 2026 CSU-TAPS sprinkler corn farm management competition this season. In highs and lows, the TAPS mission is worth the work, testing precision ag tools and strategies for farmer driven efficiency and profitability. All in a fun competition! We’re grateful for our community, and to work with the crew at the CSU ARDEC South Research Farm.

Last week, Colorado State University College of Agricultural Sciences celebrated the legacy of legendary cattle nutritionist John Matsushima, naming the new Dr. John K. Matsushima Livestock Research and Teaching Complex in his honor at CSU's Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center (ARDEC).

“Dr. Matsushima helped transform the field of animal nutrition through research that changed the way cattle are fed around the world. His pioneering work with steam-flaked corn helped shape feeding practices that continue to influence the livestock industry today. Johnny understood something that remains at the heart of agricultural research – discovery matters most when it makes a difference in people’s lives.” - Carolyn Lawrence-Dill, dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences
