After her first year as coach of the CSU Horse Judging Team and the CSU Ranch Horse Team, Maggie Murphy is building a program rooted in both competitive excellence and long-term student success — an effort that has also earned her national recognition as a member of the COWGIRL Magazine 30 Under 30 Class of 2026. Her goal is to develop students who are not only strong competitors, but also confident communicators, critical thinkers, and future industry leaders.

By emphasizing real-world skills, from decision-making under pressure to defending their reasoning, she prepares students for careers beyond the arena. That approach is already reflected in multiple top-10 national finishes and a historic fifth-place ranch horse team result.

“Judging is a privilege,” she says, “and with that comes a responsibility to lead with integrity, confidence and purpose.”

Support a true pioneer in animal agriculture!

Dr. Temple Grandin has transformed the cattle industry through her groundbreaking work in humane livestock handling and facility design — impacting how animals are cared for across the globe. Nearly half of North American cattle are handled using systems she helped create, improving both animal welfare and industry practices.

Now, she’s been nominated for the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame Industry Leadership Award—and your vote can help recognize her lasting impact.

Kambria Wilkin graduated this week with a double major in agricultural education and political science. And if you’ve spent time in Nutrien, chances are you’ve been lucky enought to meet her. For the past two years, she’s served as a student coordinator on our Recruitment and Student Success team.

Whether she was leading tours or helping students find their place within the college, Kambria made a lasting impact through meaningful connections and genuine care. “It all starts with kindness,” she says.

Bound for law school, we’ll truly miss her but we know she’s on her way to do incredible things in agriculture 🧡

Austen McCue graduates this weekend with a B.S in livestock business management – part of the first cohort of LBM students to graduate from the program. As a fourth-generation cow-calf producer from Colorado’s Eastern Plains, Austen joined the program to gain a greater understanding of the beef industry.

Austen received the 2026 Charles N. Shepardson Student Leadership Award for his work connecting students to the livestock industry and community-building through his roles with FFA, AFA, CSU AgNext, Collegiate Farm Bureau, and the CAS Student Success Team. He also co-founded the Livestock Leaders Association, which provides students with opportunities for engagement, professional development, and industry connections.

What’s next for Austen? The world is his oyster – he's still finalizing his plans for an industry position. But whatever he does, we know he’ll go far!

Congratulations to Austen and to all our graduating AgRams - we can’t wait to see all of the places you’ll go!
