✨ MAJOR MONDAY ✨

Meet Tatum Allen (she/her/hers), a student majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases & Pathogens! 🦠🔬

I chose Biomedical Sciences with a Microbiology concentration because I’m fascinated by the tiniest wonders of our world! I want to learn more about viruses and infections in hopes of someday helping those who are ill. My dream is to go into pharmaceutical research, and I believe this is the best track for me!

ΑΣΚ has given me a space where I can be surrounded by like-minded peers who share a common drive for learning. Seeing how hard everyone works is incredibly inspiring and pushes me to do better in my own studies!

Don’t give up! This is a hard major, but the reward is incredibly worth it. Go to STEM events, talk to people, and make connections with your professors and peers; you never know how those relationships may help you in your future career!

I’m proud of being accepted into CSU’s Microbiology prep-room laboratory! I love working behind the scenes to make media and materials used in lab classes. It gives me a sense of purpose knowing I’m helping keep our labs running and supporting other students.

Meet Maelin Corzine (she/her), a second-year student majoring in Neuroscience with a concentration in Behavioral & Cognitive Neuroscience! 🧠✨
We’re so excited to highlight Maelin and her journey at CSU💙

I chose Neuroscience because I think the brain and nervous system are so fascinating, and there is still so much to learn about both! I eventually want to attend medical school and work in mental health and neurological disorders.

ΑΣΚ has provided me with an incredible support system, both academically and personally. Having a community to fall back on is so important, especially when it comes to staying motivated through challenging classes.

Don’t let all the prerequisite requirements scare you! This major is so rewarding, and even the hardest classes have a purpose. It can be difficult waiting to finally get into your neuroscience courses, but it’s so worth it when you get there!

LIFE 203 Lab with Dr. Safadi really tested my limits, but it taught me so much about lab work, research, and how to push myself. I’m grateful for the experience it gave me, and I know I’ll use what I learned throughout the rest of college!

Meet Aidyn Covington (she/her/hers), a fourth-year student majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Anatomy & Physiology! 🧠🫀
We’re so excited to highlight Aidyn and her journey at CSU💚Her enthusiasm for learning and determination throughout her STEM journey make her an amazing member of our ΑΣΚ community!

I’m fascinated by how our bodies work and everything they’re capable of doing on their own! I wanted to understand more about the human body so that eventually I could help other people understand it too.

ΑΣΚ has given me the resources and community I needed to push myself and stay engaged, even when school gets hard. Seeing ΑΣΚ members in classes, before exams, and while studying is so empowering and makes school feel fun and exciting!

Just do it! I was scared to push myself because I didn’t know if I was capable of it, and knowing it would be hard intimidated me. But even if you think you might be interested, just try it. You might have the best four years of your life studying something you love!

BMS 300 was a class that completely changed the trajectory of my academic career. I became obsessed with what I was learning and discovered how much I love neuroanatomy and physiology! I’ve focused on them ever since and I’m especially proud that I finished Neuroanatomy with an A! 🎉

✨ MAJOR MONDAY ✨

Meet Eleanor Shanahan (she/her), a third-year student majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Anatomy & Physiology! 🫀🩺
We’re so excited to highlight Eleanor and her journey at CSU! Her drive toward her future goals and dedication to a challenging STEM path make her an amazing member of our ΑΣΚ community!

I chose Biomedical Sciences because I want to become a Physician Assistant, and I love learning how the body works through anatomy and physiology. I wanted a major that would challenge me, prepare me for professional school, and be something I genuinely enjoy learning about.

ΑΣΚ has connected me with people who have similar interests, aspirations, and mindsets. Being surrounded by siblings with so many different goals motivates me to keep working toward my own goal of becoming a PA!

BMS is incredibly interesting and challenging, and there is definitely a lot of memorization! Remember that everything is connected and follows patterns. Once you start seeing those connections, the concepts become much easier to understand.

BMS 300 (Human Physiology) has been an impactful class for me. BMS courses move quickly and cover a lot of information, so staying on top of the workload is crucial. The expectations are high, but they help prepare you for the demands of pre-professional programs.

✨ MAJOR MONDAY ✨

Meet Emery Aasen (she/hers), a third-year student majoring in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Microbiology and minoring in Chemistry! 🧬🔬

We’re so excited to highlight Emery and everything she brings to our ΑΣΚ community!

I chose Biomedical Sciences with a Microbiology concentration because I’m fascinated by the small things! I love learning how the body fights infections and how microorganisms interact with the human body. I hope to work in a clinical laboratory and eventually pursue research!

Go for it! Biomed can be challenging and sometimes daunting, but don’t let anything squash your passion. If you love what you’re studying, you deserve to pursue it.

ΑΣΚ has helped me become more confident in myself and my goals. I found a community that has pushed me through difficult STEM classes, helped me grow as a leader, and given me some of my closest friendships!

Immunology completely shaped my goals after graduation and made me fall in love with the field. I hope to start in a clinical laboratory and eventually pursue research on cancer treatments!
