Meet our students featured in CSU’s All64, an initiative highlighting CSU’s students in all of Colorado’s 64 counties.
Representing Garfield County is International Studies major and Spanish minor Britney Moreno! Britney’s last class needed to complete her minor was Women Writers in the Hispanic World, taught by María del Mar López-Cabrales – who quickly became her favorite instructor.
“My favorite instructor has been María del Mar López-Cabrales. I took Women Writers in the Hispanic World with her and we focused on issues women face in the Hispanic world through books, movies, music and art,” says Moreno. “As a Latina, it reaffirmed my experiences in my community and opened up the conversation on why this has happened over generations and possible solutions to these issues. This was also the last Spanish class I needed to finish my Spanish minor, so it made it even more special.”
Britney has plans to go to law school to achieve her career goal of becoming an immigration lawyer or a family lawyer, and ultimately go on to be an ambassador to Mexico.
Elizabeth Brink (right) is a double major in Economics and International Studies in the Asian Studies concentration and is the featured student for Teller County! As a senior, Elizabeth has been able to create a sense of place for herself in her time at CSU through key connections like her involvement in the Chinese Language Club, or studying in the Chinese Language program with Chuchang Chiu, her favorite instructor.
“She cares so much about her students and pushes each one to do their best. I learned so much Chinese from her in the first year and she supported my desire to learn and master the language.”
Elizabeth hopes to use her education to work in nonprofit organizations to promote economic growth in developing countries.
