Do you have a middle-schooler or high-schooler bursting with ideas for starting a business?

Spark! is an incredible one-day experience where students prepare to turn ideas into action.

📅 Friday, April 10, 2026
⏰ 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
📍 Richardson Design Center, CSU Fort Collins

This event is designed for students who are curious about entrepreneurship and excited to bring a business idea to life or start innovative projects in their school or community. Through hands-on activities and collaborative challenges, students will explore creativity, problem-solving, and what it takes to move an idea from concept to reality.

Perfect for students who love innovation, teamwork, and imagining what’s possible.

Crafted in the RDC by Logan Rosebrock, a Mechanical Engineering Ram with a minor in Design Thinking, this live-edge picture frame evokes feelings of nature and renewal 🌳

In our Foundations of Woodworking course (IDEA 310E), Logan used live-edge beetle-kill pine, cut and shaped using a miter saw, table saw, joiner, planer, the domino machine, and orbital sanders to make the frame!

What do you want to create? Join us in the RDC to begin your design thinking journey ✨

At the RDC, creativity is always in the cards for our design thinkers 💡🃏

The artist behind this interlocking laser-cut wooden 3D model is Gino Conca, a CSU Department of Computer Science major with a minor in design thinking!

Created in Brendan Kelley’s 3D Modeling course (IDEA 310B), Gino designed the “Blackjack” character in Rhino 8, then utilized the laser cutters in the RDC to print it out of wood.

“Whenever I hear the term design thinking, I think of the possibility to share something with others through creativity and passion,” Gino shared. “There’s always a purpose behind every design, whether it’s to fix a problem, to sell a product, or to entertain and express oneself.”

Keep creating, Gino!
