It's Ramfunder Season! Let's raise some money for the Occupational Therapy Garden!

Care for the OT Garden has been a long-standing tradition at CSU. It's been a peaceful and inclusive space for students, faculty, classes, community partners, and celebrations.

The current garden is aging and no longer provides the accessibility that students, faculty, staff, and the community deserve. So as a community, we're raising money this month through Ramfunder. Funds raised will support improvements to pathways, garden beds and areas, seating, and other features that promote access and participation.

Something special is happening on campus this year!
Occupational Therapist and CSU-OT faculty member Bianca Daugherty has partnered with the CSU Health Network Counseling Services for a pilot program, OT-RENEWS, bringing the benefits of occupational therapy to CSU students!

Research shows that Occupational Therapy can make a significant difference for college students when it comes to academic performance, life skills, executive functioning, campus engagement, and a feeling of belonging.

OT-RENEWS is serving 36-44 students this year through individual and group sessions. It's making a difference for CSU students who are already connected with counseling/mental health services at the Health Network and may benefit from additional support with daily functioning and participation skills. These services are also being provided free of charge to the students, promoting access for those who may face financial barriers.

What brought you to CSU?

"After several years as an occupational therapist in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, low vision, and home health, a mentor encouraged me to apply to teach the adult and older adult labs. Over the past couple of years, my adjunct teaching duties grew, and I completed my post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy at Boston University. This progress enabled me to apply for an assistant professor role in the department. I am grateful for the opportunity to maintain my connections with fellow faculty members and students."

I am passionate about occupational therapy and wanted the opportunity to give back to the profession by sharing the knowledge and experience I have gained over 28 years of clinical practice. Teaching at CSU allows me to help prepare and inspire the next generation of occupational therapists.

Congratulations to Occupational Therapy Assistant Professor Paul Yjong Yoo!

He has been awarded a K12 Career Development Award through CADRRE (Career Advancement and Development in Rehabilitation Research), a national training program supporting early-career investigators in rehabilitation science funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research. CADRRE scholars are chosen for their demonstrated research productivity and their readiness to lead an independent research program — Yoo’s selection places him in this year’s national cohort.
