Congratulations to Joe Conrad on being named the 2026 College of Liberal Arts Honor Alumnus! 💚

A first-generation CSU journalism grad (’87), Joe has spent his career proving creativity can change lives. As founder and CEO of Grit Digital Health and leader of Cactus, he created Man Therapy, now the world's leading men's mental health brand, and brought the student success platform YOU at College to 65 campuses.

Joe and his wife, Erin, also sponsor a scholarship in Journalism and Media Communication at Colorado State University, supporting the next generation of Rams.

Thank you, Joe, for showing what a liberal arts education can do.

Congratulations to Joni ('82) and Gary Ozzello ('78) on receiving the Jim & Nadine Henry Award as part of the 2026 Colorado State University Distinguished Alumni Awards. 🐏

For more than four decades, the Ozzellos have championed CSU through communication, service, and philanthropy. Gary built a 42-year career at the university, including 36 years in Athletics and six in University Marketing and Communications. Joni has built a legacy of volunteerism through Chi Omega and other CSU organizations, alongside a career in hospitality and a commitment to her family.

Their story reflects a principle Gary learned from longtime football coach Sonny Lubick: "You don't win with a playbook; you win with people."

Congratulations to this year’s William E. Morgan Alumni Achievement Award recipient, Kathleen Pitre (B.A. speech communication, ‘00; M.S., technical communication, ‘04)!

Kathleen has built an extraordinary career combining strategic communication and executive leadership skills. Today, she serves as president of Ball Corporation’s North & Central America Beverage Packaging business and senior vice president of Ball Corporation, overseeing a business that generates more than $6 billion in annual revenue across more than 20 manufacturing facilities in North and Central America. 🌍

A Fort Collins native and two-time CSU graduate, Kathleen has worked for two decades at Ball Corporation. She started her career with Ball Aerospace in marketing and communications, before moving into leadership roles in corporate relations, sustainability, public affairs, and commercial strategy.

Kathleen remains connected to her alma mater as a lifelong member of the CSU Alumni Association - Colorado State University, a member of the College of Business Global Leadership Council, and a member of the Green and Gold Foundation. We will celebrate Kathleen this week at the Distinguished Alumni Awards.

What happens when AI starts taking over the conversation? 🤖

CSU Professor of Journalism & Media Communication Rosa Martey spent her Fulbright year at the University of Bergen in Norway researching how AI chatbots influence users and their decision-making.

At the Center for Digital Narrative, Martey conducted interviews with students about their experiences using AI chatbots, finding that the technology often encouraged users to expand tasks beyond their original prompt.

Martey's research explores how users can take greater control of their interactions with AI and better understand how chatbots shape thinking and behavior. She has published several journal articles on the topic and is currently working on a book examining AI's influence on user interactions.

From Colorado to Norway! 🏔️✈️🇳🇴

CSU Assistant Professor of English Education Naitnaphit Limlamai spent a year in Norway as a Fulbright Roving Scholar. During her time there, she led workshops for students, faculty, and teacher educators on American culture, literacy, and educational inequality.

Through teaching, learning, travel, and cultural exchange, Limlamai gained new insight into education, cultural identity, and what it means to be a teacher in today's world.

During her Fulbright year, Limlamai co-published an article exploring the challenges and importance of discussing difference in Norwegian classrooms. She is also working on a handbook for teacher educators and early-career teachers on justice-centered teaching in K-12 classrooms.

This summer CSU Anthropology student and photographer Lacey Dippold was part of the 2026 CSU Archaeology Field School that surveyed and excavated at archaeological sites across northern and eastern Colorado. In addition to digging and sifting, Lacey was also snapping and framing and catching dramatic scenes of discovery, grit, silliness, exhaustion, and community as the class worked and learned afield over five weeks, including camping on the Eastern Plains for more than a week. Lacey formerly ran a studio specializing in newborn and maternity photography but now focuses on school and family.

The CSU Archaeology Field School has been running since 1969. Professor Jason LaBelle (ANTH BA 1995) has directed field schools as faculty since 2009 and attended the program as a student in 1993. Many of this summer's field sites on private lands have served as CSU learning and research areas for decades. The class (ANTH 260/460) is often regarded as one of students' favorites, where they not only learn and apply archaeological methods and record stories of the ancient past, but also learn about teamwork and build friendships that often extend for years beyond graduation.

As the CSU MFA Program in Creative Writing marks its 40th anniversary, the 2026-27 Creative Writing Reading Series will highlight the program’s lasting impact. Join us for an incredible lineup that includes acclaimed authors, distinguished alumni, and former faculty members.

The series kicks off Sept. 10 with award-winning novelist Rabih Alameddine and acclaimed poet H.L. Hix.

An outdoor Sundance Film Festival advance premiere in FoCo 📍 🎞️ 🍿

The Lyric, a locally owned, eclectic independent movie theater and creative community hub in Fort Collins, hosted a special advance screening of the movie The Weight on Monday, August 31, 2026.

700+ showed out. Amazing showing by the community that embraces art & film 🙌

Director Padraic McKinley and actor Julia Jones appeared for an extended introduction and Q&A. Additionally they held a panel on the Colorado State University campus prior.

Presented by the The Sundance Institute and The Lyric 🚀 , in partnership with the CSU’s ACT Human Rights Film Festival, Michael David Cain, CSU College of Liberal Arts, and Visit Fort Collins, with support from Vertical Entertainment.

It is thrilling to imagine the incredible momentum the Sundance Film Festival will bring to our local filmmakers!
