“Movement can contribute to long-distance transport of pathogens and outbreaks, and the management of outbreaks is challenging,” said Colleen Webb, former OHI Director and now Dean of the Colorado State University Graduate School. More humane management of animals can improve their health, stress and environment and will help to reduce transmission risk to people.

Tens of millions of farm animals cross state lines every year, traveling in cramped, stressful conditions that can facilitate the spread of disease.

Dean Webb represented the One Health Institute at an event hosted by First Gentleman Marlon Reis highlighting animals last night.

Dean Webb previously served as the Interim Director of the One Health Institute. A major focus of the One Health Institute at Colorado State University is the intersection of the health and well-being of humans, animals, and the environment.
