We’re proud to celebrate two outstanding Colorado State University Ph.D. students who have received the highly competitive P.E.O. Scholar Award, recognizing women whose research shows exceptional promise and impact.

Congratulations to Abigail R. Whittaker (Department of Human Dimensions of Natural Resources) and Delaney Worthington (Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology) on earning this prestigious $25,000 scholarship supporting doctoral research and leadership.

Abigail’s work examines how agro-pastoralist communities in Tanzania coexist with large predators amid climate and land-use change, with a focus on people centered conservation and community resilience.

Delaney’s research focuses on science communication and helping undergraduate researchers communicate complex public health topics with empathy, trust and accessibility.

Their work reflects the power of interdisciplinary research, mentorship and community impact and we are excited to see how they continue advancing their fields.

Big congratulations to our HDNR admin and teaching staff for receiving international attention for their groundbreaking wildlife research 🌎🐾

This new study explores how cultural history and patterns of European colonization continue to shape the way people value and interact with wildlife across the Americas helping explain major differences in conservation perspectives between North and Latin America.

Shoutout to Mike Manfredo, Dr. Tara Teel, Dr. Jon Salerno, and collaborators for this incredible contribution to global conservation research 👏

Congratulations to graduating Natural Resource Tourism senior Dean Mauck. 🎊 This past semester Dean has been curating and posting for the Warner HDNR social media platforms as well as providing interdepartmental help.

We thank Dean and all HDNR students for dedicated work that makes a difference. We hope to see all our grads go on and do wonderful things! 🌱

Last week NRRT 442 students participated in a poster gallery session! 📝

The goal of this poster session was to present the hard work that was done through the community partner engagement project! Each team was paired with one local community partner organization and briefed on outcomes that each organization needed to be met.

Thank you to all who participated, those who showed up to learn, our wonderful community partners, and professor Julia Branstrator for making this wonderful day of academics so amazing.🪻

Last sunday was CSU day at the Gardens on Spring Creek! This event featured free access to the gardens and butterfly house for CSU students as well as a range of amazing activities such as crafts and yoga.

With a large variety of booths from all different sustainable organizations there was so much to see!

This year we had over 200 CSU students in attendance and 170 other visitors. Thank you to The Gardens on Spring Creek for hosting this amazing event and Professor Jamie Dahl for organizing this wonderful day! We also thank those who came!

Big thanks to Rick Knight for leading a great field day in Livermore this weekend. Around 50 students from CSU and Front Range Community College worked together to remove fencing on a conserved ranch, helping restore wildlife movement across the landscape. 🗻

Students came from several campus conservation and natural resources groups and put in a strong day of work. This work is meaningful for local ranchers and wildlife that live within the area!

It was a simple but meaningful project and a good example of hands-on conservation.
