Florida Firefighters: Turn Your Certifications into FSW College Credits!

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? If you hold active state fire certifications, you are already well on your way to earning your Associate of Science in Fire Science Technology (a 60-credit program) at Florida SouthWestern State College!

Through Gold Standard Career Pathways Articulation Agreements, FSW may be able to award you college credit for your hard-earned professional certifications, saving you both time and tuition:

➡️Fire Safety Inspector I = 12 credits toward your degree! Skip classes like Fire Prevention Practices (FFP 1505) and Building Construction (FFP 2120).

➡️Fire Officer I = 12 credits! Fast-track through courses like Fire Company Officer Leadership (FFP 2720) and Tactic and Strategy I (FFP 2810).

➡️Fire Officer II = 15 credits! Get credit for Introduction to Fire Protection (FFP 1000), Tactic and Strategy II (FFP 2811), and more.

You may be able to bypass up to 15 credits of your 60-credit degree and graduate much faster!

How to Claim Your Credits:
1️⃣ Be enrolled in FSW's AS Fire Science Technology program and schedule an appointment with your academic advisor.
2️⃣ Provide proof of certification issued by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training during your final semester of completing the degree requirements.
3️⃣ Enroll within 5 years of earning your certification.

As our Paramedic students near the end of their third of four semesters, they took a moment to celebrate how far they’ve come by showing a little red, white, and blue spirit during today’s paramedic lab!

From mastering skills to building the confidence needed to serve their communities, these future paramedics continue to demonstrate dedication, teamwork, and professionalism every step of the way.

The finish line is in sight, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and commitment.
