🏆 The NCAA Woman of the Year is coming to Fort Scott Community College!

FSCC is excited to welcome Sam Schott, the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year, to campus on Friday, September 4, for a special presentation focused on leadership, service, and mental toughness.

Schott was selected for the prestigious honor from a record 631 nominees across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. A standout softball player at the University of Texas at Tyler, she helped the Patriots capture back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships in 2024 and 2025 while earning numerous athletic and academic honors.

But Sam’s story goes far beyond the softball field. She graduated summa cm laude with a degree in biochemistry, has dedicated significant time to service and medical mission work, and is now pursuing her M.D. at the UT Tyler School of Medicine.

Sam will share her experiences and lessons on leadership, perseverance, serving others, and developing the mental toughness needed to overcome challenges and pursue your goals.

This is an opportunity for everyone — FSCC students and student-athletes, area high school students, coaches, educators, and members of the community are encouraged to attend.

🎶 New energy is building in the performing arts at FSCC! 🎭

Dr. Lauren Powell, FSCC’s Director of Performance, is working to create new opportunities for students to perform, collaborate, build confidence, and continue doing something they love.

From band, choir, and theater to future opportunities in musical theater, contemporary and classical music, stage productions, and community performances, Dr. Powell has a big vision for the future of performing arts at Fort Scott Community College.

“I’m most excited about helping build students’ confidence and belief in their talent, creating a community of support,” Powell said.

Whether students dream of a career in music or simply aren’t ready to leave music behind when they come to college, there’s a place for them at FSCC. 🎵

The Greyhound Experience is officially underway!

We’ve kicked off the fall semester at Fort Scott Community College, and if Welcome Week is any indication of what’s ahead… we’re in for a GREAT year! 🙌

Our students have been AWESOME, and we’ve packed a whole lot of Greyhound fun into one week!

🔥 We got things started with our Welcome Cookout and Orientation in Ellis—welcoming new and returning Greyhounds back to campus!

🧋 Student Life’s Boba Social kept things rolling Monday. Students stopped by to grab a killer drink, try some new flavors…and, yes, some may have gone back for another. 😂

🛒 Then came Grocery Bingo, where students battled it out for some seriously useful prizes—including the highly coveted Tide Pods. And for the record: NO Tide Pods were tasted during this event. 😂 We’re calling that a successful night.

🤝 Our Business & Activity Expo brought campus and community together, and we can’t say THANK YOU enough to all of the businesses and organizations that showed up to meet our students and help us kick off the semester!

🍿 Fort Cinema hosted Movie Night with TWO theaters and TWO movies going at once. Nothing wrong with starting the semester with a little popcorn and a big screen!

🏐 Thursday night brought out the competitive side with TRIO Dodgeball…

🔥💦 …and we wrapped up the fun with S’mores & Water Wars—because apparently at FSCC we believe you can roast marshmallows AND soak your friends in the same evening. 😎

And we’re just getting started!

🏐 Lady Greyhound Volleyball is in full swing, so come out, get loud, and support your Greyhounds this season!

There’s a lot happening at FSCC—and we’d love for you to be part of it.

🐾 This is Greyhound Country. This is the Greyhound Experience.

Want to keep up with everything happening at FSCC? Head over to fortscott.edu and check out Upcoming Events right from our main landing page. You can also jump into the full FSCC Calendar of Events so you don’t miss any of the awesome Greyhound activities happening on campus!

Check out what’s happening at fortscott.edu.
