Next in our welcome back series is Journi Goforth. Journi is an Academic Advisor & has been with UAFS for 3 years. Journi advises for Biology, Biology with Teacher Licensure, English, English with Teacher Licensure, Geoscience, History, History with Teacher Licensure, Mathematics, Mathematics with Teacher Licensure, & Spanish. She believes that her role as an advisor is to support & assist students toward gaining independence & feeling empowered by their choices so that they may reach their fullest potential academically & beyond graduation. She believes that students & advisors share the responsibility for a successful advising appointment. Students take responsibility for their decisions & advisors take responsibility for providing students with the information & environment to make the best possible choices. Outside of the advising center, Journi says that she always loves a good (and sometimes bad) book, especially if she gets the chance to talk about it with others. She also enjoys hiking & has recently joined the Club 52 program, which encourages Arkansans to visit all of the Arkansas State Parks. There's even a passport to track your progress.

As part of Accelerator 2026, ABB will host a week-long innovation event in Fort Smith, October 12-15, featuring hackathons, AI-focused sessions, industry engagement, networking opportunities, and innovation showcases. Students will have the opportunity to work on meaningful challenges, connect with industry professionals, and gain exposure to emerging technologies and potential career opportunities.

Lions: Due to recent events, the university has pushed back the schedule adjustment period and payment deadline to Tuesday, August 25th. We’ll continue our walk-in availability Monday and Tuesday to help with any schedule adjustments, etc. Stay safe Lions! 💙

Today is the last day to register before the fall 2026 payment deadline. Eden and Justin will be seeing walk-ins until 3:30 today.
