Addison Grove started her first semester of college with an associate degree already in hand.

She’s the first Farmington High School student to complete a full college course load while also taking her regular high school classes.

Dr. Tammy Rogers, simulation lab coordinator and assistant professor of nursing, is behind every one of those experiences.

UAFS RoarCorps is helping close the literacy gap in the River Valley, one student at a time.

In the brand new AmeriCorps program, members will provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring for K-6 students at Fort Smith Boys & Girls Clubs, helping young readers build foundational skills and reading confidence.

Minuteman Monday! Second Lt. Sandra Huitron initially enlisted in the Arkansas Army National Guard in 2018, but found her way to the officer ranks via ROTC while in college pursing a bachelor’s degree in social work. She graduated from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith in 2024 debt free. As an officer, she’s a distribution platoon leader in the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade’s 937th Forward Support Company.

“Military service has exceeded my expectations,” she said. “I initially joined for the experience and the challenge, but I’ve stayed because of the people. The Guard has become a second family, a network of leaders, mentors, and Soldiers who push me to grow every day. My experience has been more rewarding than I imagined, and it continues to give me purpose and direction.”

Since becoming director of the UAFS Academic Success Center, Andrea Burton has made it her mission to help students navigate the complexities of college life.

"We try to emphasize to students that they're not alone. There's somebody here to help them out," she said.

Today our Hub 2 students brought learning to life by creating physical representations of Scarborough’s Rope! Through creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, students explored how the strands of language comprehension and word recognition weave together to support skilled reading.
