FVSU NAA, INC. WARNER ROBINS AREA ALUMNI CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS BANQUET

The Warner Robins Area Alumni Chapter (WRAAC) of the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) National Alumni Association is excited to host its scholarship awards banquet on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 5:00-9:00 PM. Single tickets are available for $60 each or $450.00 for a table. The event will be held at the Union Grove Baptist Church Vision Center located at 1231 South Davis Drive, Warner Robins, GA. Our theme for this year’s event is “An Evening of Jazz.”

We are thrilled to be hosting key members of our community at this event. This year, we will be honoring and awarding the following individuals:

Elliott Mizell Character Award: Angela Fussell

Wildcat Community Service Award: Ethan Bailey and Kattie Kendrick

Professional Achievement Award: Dr. Jacques Surrency

Eugene Leverson Distinguished Alumni Award: Vetris Lewis and Evelyn B. Lewis

Warner Robins Area Alumni Chapter Members of the Year: Vern Wilson & Cheryl Moore

Clergy of the Year Award: Pastor David Clark, Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Warner Robins, GA

As we embark on hosting this event, please note that we are a 501(c)(3) organization, and we ask that you consider being a sponsor and/or purchasing an ad. The ad will be shown throughout the evening during the event on our social media platform. Our 501(c)(3) letter is available upon request.

FVSU NAA, INC. CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF FVSU FIRST LADY BETTY H. RIVERS

It is with profound sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Mrs. Betty Jean Hubbard Rivers ’73, a proud FVSUNAA Life Member and former First Lady of Fort Valley State University alongside her husband, our 8th President, Dr. Larry Eugene Rivers.

Mrs. Rivers embodied a quiet and genuine spirit of service to Fort Valley State University and the Wildcat family. I had the privilege of speaking with her earlier this year as she graciously contributed behind the scenes to support one of our programs. She sought no recognition or praise; she simply wanted to help. That was the kind of lady Mrs. Rivers was.

Her love for our University, her commitment to service, and the grace with which she carried herself will remain a treasured part of the Fort Valley State University legacy.

On behalf of the Fort Valley State University National Alumni Association, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Rivers, the entire Rivers family, and all who knew and loved Mrs. Rivers. May God bless her memory and grant comfort and peace to all who mourn her passing.

Funeral services are slated to be held next week in Tallahassee, Florida, and final arrangements will be shared with the Wildcat family once they are finalized.

Rest well, Mrs. Rivers. Your service, kindness, and Wildcat spirit will not be forgotten.
