Greetings singers! Choral Union community member Jay Farlow here.
PFW's new director of Choral Studies, Dr. Roger Tirona David asked me to create this post to invite you to join (or return to) Choral Union later this month. Dr. David's PFW employment officially begins on August 17, so I'm sure we'll hear more from him on or after that date. In the meantime, here are the basics:
The Purdue Fort Wayne School of Music welcomes enrolled Purdue University Fort Wayne students and unenrolled community members (including School of Music alumni) to join Choral Union; a union of student and community singers.
If Dr. David maintains previous practice, admission into Choral Union will not require an audition, but he will proably want to hear new members to assure correct section placement.
Beginning on August 24, the choir will rehearse nearly every Monday evening, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in Room 122 (the choir room) of the PFW Music Center. The choir will not rehearse on September 7 (Labor Day) or October 19 (Fall Break).
Please bring a folder and a pencil to every rehearsal to help organize and mark your music.
Shortly after we initially published the post, Dr. David sent an email message that indicates that our first concert will be on Tuesday, Oct 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Auer Performance Hall on the PFW campus.
I'm confident that Dr. David will soon provide additional concert dates and an idea of the exciting repertoire that he has planned.
Please share this information widely and invite your singing friends, including fellow church choir members, etc., to join.
Enrolled students should enroll in Choral Union (MUSC 07300) the same way they'd enroll in any other class. Unenrolled community members need not register; just show up at the first rehearsal.
Dr. David welcome anyone with questions to contact him at [email protected] but to expect no reply until August 17, as he will be out of state a family event until then.
See you on August 24!
