Bob Schieffer College of Communication The Schieffer College houses four departments: Communication Studies; Film, Television and Digital Media; Journalism; and Strategic Communication.

The departments of Communication Studies; Film, Television and Digital Media; Journalism; and Strategic Communication provide a mixture of technical and research skills from a diverse faculty who believe in and practice the teacher-scholar model. At TCU, you will immediately become an active member in a television studio, daily newspaper or course in organizational communication. The faculty of the college are respected both nationally and internationally as professors and professionals in their field of expertise. One of the driving forces that keep the faculty active in their professional and research agendas, is to enhance the classroom experience of their students. Indeed, this group of faculty is the essence of the teacher/scholar model of education. The faculty share one other common trait: a desire to interact with students. Whether in the classroom, on a research project, or programs abroad, interaction with faculty is an everyday experience. A caring, mentoring faculty working with a distinguished student population propels the academic mission of the College.

Jenkins, a professor in the Department of Film, Television and Digital Media, highlighted how productions like Landman give students a closer look at the film and television industry taking shape around them and the career opportunities available right here in North Texas.

The future of healthcare depends on more than medical expertise. It depends on the ability to connect, communicate and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Schieffer College alumna Erin Schoemann ’22 and Davis College alumna Sofia Zarmsky ’23 are putting those skills into practice through two distinct career paths. From developing communication strategies for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to supporting patient care in a clinical setting, their experiences highlight the versatility of a communication education and its impact beyond the classroom.

Through the perspectives of our alumnae and faculty across TCU, we're exploring how interdisciplinary education is preparing the next generation of professionals to shape the future of healthcare.

We are so grateful to our incredible community for coming together to support Schieffer College this TCU Gives Day!

Thanks to your generosity, we exceeded our goal of 150 donors, reaching 107% of our goal and raising more than $50,000 across the college. Your support creates meaningful opportunities for our students and strengthens the programs, faculty and staff who help prepare the next generation of communicators.
