We are excited to invite you to join us Wednesday, October 21st, for Kentucky State University's Fall Arbor Day Celebration!

As KSU works toward becoming a recognized Tree Campus, we invite our campus community to come together for a fun day of celebrating our trees, exploring our natural spaces, and supporting a greener campus!

Hosted collaboratively by KSU's Forestry and Natural Resources Program and Environmental Education and Research Center (EERC), this event will offer several opportunities to get outside, connect with colleagues and community members, and help us celebrate this exciting step toward a Tree Campus recognition.

Start your morning exploring Thorobred Trail! Join us for guided bird and tree walk to learn more about the native trees, birds, and natural habitats found right here on KSU's campus.

Following the walk, we'll work together on a trail cleanup to help keep the Thorobred Trail clean and welcoming for everyone.

After, please join us for the highlight of the day as we plant a new tree on campus in celebration of Fall Arbor Day and KSU's journey to become a Tree Campus. We would love to have as many faculty, staff, students, and community members there as possible.

Stick around and enjoy a hot cocoa and snack station, fun activities and games for kids, and opportunities to connect with others from across campus and our community.

Interested in highlighting your program? We also welcome KSU departments and programs to set up an informational table during the tree planting. If you would like to participate, please email Kasia Bradley at [email protected].

What a fantastic event this weekend at the KSU Harold R. Benson Farm for the Goat Artificial Insemination Clinic!

Hosted by Dr. Sarah Carr, the clinic brought together producers to take a deeper look the reproductive physiology of goats and conduct hands-on training in AI. If you missed it, do not worry. We will see you next year.

A huge thank you to the Kentucky Sheep and Goat Development Office and the Kentucky Goat Producers Association for their collaboration. We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Ky Sheep and Goat Checkoff for helping fund this event, and give a massive shoutout to our hardworking KSU farm team for an excellent job setting up the facilities and ensuring the day ran smoothly!

This month, our 4-H Passport Kitchen participants traveled to Mexico!

At the West Regional Center, we explored Mexican culture through traditional yarn art and created our own colorful pieces to take home. Then, we headed to the kitchen to make Elotes (Mexican street corn) - and the kids ate every bite!

Passport Kitchen gives youth the opportunity to explore cultures around the world through hands-on activities, food, and fun!
