We love seeing our students study abroad!

This summer, Abby Thornburg (‘27), traveled to Port Douglas, Australia to work at The Wildlife Habitat, which is a unique zoo on the Queensland coast. When she wasn’t working with friends and mentors from around the world, she was exploring places like the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.

In her reflection, Abby wrote, “My internship in Australia, was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!”

If you’ve ever thought about an experience like this, talk to your advisor, stop by the Global Education office and talk to Jenny Cataldi, or shoot Abby a message!

The Biology Department even has engaged learning scholarships that can help cover some of your costs!

Congrats to Professor Jackson Schoettle, who was recently accepted into the PhD program at the University of Louisville, where he will join the Pigg Lab to study conservation, wildlife management, public outreach, and science education. Jackson’s research will likely include his beloved reptiles. 🐍 🦎

We have been very fortunate to enjoy Jackson’s passion for science and his gift for teaching over the last several years, as our instructor of Earth Science.

Wishing him Godspeed on this next leg of his professional journey!
