Hero’s of ‘76!

🇺🇸🔨 Masonic History — May 15th 🔨🇺🇸

Today we remember Brother Joseph Warren — physician, patriot, soldier, and Freemason.

On May 15, 1769, Brother Warren was recorded as Master of St. Andrew’s Lodge in Boston. He would later become one of the great heroes of the American Revolution and a symbol of courage and sacrifice among Freemasons.

Brother Warren is remembered for:
⚔️ Sending Paul Revere on his famous midnight ride
⚔️ Fighting at the Battle of Bunker Hill
⚔️ Refusing to retreat alongside his fellow countrymen

His life reminds us that true Freemasonry is not only about words spoken in Lodge… but about living with honor, integrity, and devotion to something greater than ourselves.

“Among Masons, Joseph Warren represents the union of patriotism and principle.”

In the 18th century the president’s closet was perhaps more important than any other stately room or chamber. And, arguably, no sartorial choice in American history mattered more than the first one: What would Washington wear to his swearing-in ceremony?

Global supply networks and international enmity left Washington in a vulnerable state of undress: he had just fought a bloody war of independence against the very people who were the best weavers in the world. To publicly sever the link with the colonial past, it was vital that the president’s suit be made of American, not English, cloth. But it also was crucial that Washington look good, and American manufacture was in its infancy.

The suit Washington imagined was a double-breasted coat with ten buttons. He selected a brown Connecticut-made broadcloth that looked like velvet. The color itself was a political statement: black and gray and brown were markers of homespun, independent republicanism.
