Congratulations to Ryley, the 2026 recipient of The Marcea Horton Cotter ‘82 Award in Nutrition. We are of you!

Ryley recently completed her graduate studies at Hood College and received a coveted Maryland State Senatorial and Delegate Scholarship. During her program, she completed clinical rotations and a sports nutrition internship at Coastal Carolina University working with the football team and presented research on student-athlete nutrition at both the DC Metro Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics meeting and SPIRE symposium. She will begin her career as an Inpatient Dietitian in Charleston, SC, specializing in Med-Surg and Orthopedics.

Congratulations to Ansley, the 2026 recipient of The Susan Peters Roetzel Wirths ’56, M.A.’79, G’13 Outstanding Multidisciplinary Studies in Education Student Award. We are of you!

Ansley is a fourth-grade teacher at Urbana Elementary School. She completed an action research project titled “Managing Feedback Practices to Promote Learning and Engagement in the Elementary Classroom,” focusing on effective instructional strategies to enhance student learning. In 2024, she successfully completed the National Board Certification.

Congratulations to Christopher, the 2026 recipient of The Blossom Birch Outstanding IT Student Award. We are of you!

At Hood College, Chris is an Adjunct Instructor in the Computer Science and Information Technology department. He completed his graduate studies after serving as a Teaching Assistant during his program. His research has been published and presented internationally, including at the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Conference in Singapore, where he co-authored work on generative AI and machine learning performance. He has also presented at Hood’s SPIRE symposium.
