If you're new to MAC, CARDS Day is a great opportunity to get ready for your first semester. You'll be able to:

📢 Registration is still open for Your First 90 Days with AI, starting July 23.

AI is quickly becoming a tool people use every day, but most training is either too technical or assumes prior knowledge.

This four-session course is designed to help complete beginners understand AI, write effective prompts, compare tools, and start using AI confidently in real-world situations.

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Ashley Bales Simmons

We are excited to highlight MAC alumna Ashley Bales Simmons, a financial advisor serving our local community. Ashley shared reflections on how Mineral Area College helped shape her path and why local educational opportunities matter.

💬 Looking back, how did your time at MAC help build the foundation for your career?
“The A+ Program helped cover my first two years of tuition, allowing me to graduate debt-free. I also had a great advisor, Todd Kline, who helped guide me when I was unsure about my path. Having instructors with real-world experience and being able to stay close to home while working made a huge difference.”

💬 What is one thing you wish more people understood about your work as a financial advisor?
“You don’t have to be wealthy to work with a financial advisor. Learning to save and invest early - even with limited assets - is how wealth is built over time. Often, it’s more about developing good financial habits.”

💬 As a successful professional in our community, what do you see as the biggest benefit of having a college presence like MAC right here in town?
“The opportunity for students to live, work, and attend an affordable school in a growing community - with the hope of staying or returning to live and work here after completing their education.”

💬 What is one piece of financial or professional advice you wish you could give your younger self as a MAC student?
“Focus less on ‘passion’ and more on building a career in a growing industry with long-term opportunities. You can always pursue your passions in other ways, but it can be hard to build a livable income from those at times.”

💬 Why would you recommend the Fredericktown Outreach Center to someone considering college?
“The Outreach Center is an invaluable resource in our community. Smaller class sizes, affordable courses, and a supportive environment make it a great place to start - or continue - your education close to home.”

📢 Outreach Center Closure Notice

The Outreach Center will be closed June 5–June 12 for rest and recovery (R&R).

During this time, regular office operations will be paused. Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) classes will continue to meet at their regularly scheduled times.

We look forward to serving you again when we reopen on Monday, June 13!

It was a great day yesterday when our enrollment team came to Fredericktown! 🎓

Our outreach team had a fantastic opportunity to work with students at Fredericktown High School (Fredericktown R-1 Schools). We were joined by members of the college’s enrollment team who provided on-the-spot academic advising and registered students for the Fall 2026 semester.

We were proud to have representation from:
- Admissions
- Financial Aid
- The EXCEL program
- All main campus navigators

It was wonderful to see so many determined faces and help them take these important steps toward their future goals. Whether you’re continuing your studies, exploring new interests, or starting your degree journey, our combined team is here to support you.

How long have you been teaching?
"I have been teaching for 36 years, and I have been teaching at the Outreach Center for a little over five years."

What classes do you teach at the Fredericktown Outreach Center?
"Currently, I teach public speaking."

What is your best advice for success in your class?
"Keep up with the class and the deadlines. Always listen to your instructor 😁, and believe in yourself. As the saying goes, 'There is nothing to fear but fear itself.'"

What do you love about the Fredericktown Outreach Center?
"The campus is very nice and has a comfortable atmosphere. Most of all, I really like the students I've had at Fredericktown. I've met a lot of really fine people that are eager to learn and improve."

The Outreach Center is closed today and tomorrow, April 2-3, but we are still hard at work! 🛠️

Our physical office is closed as we participate in Professional Development. We are spending this time focusing on better ways to support YOU, our Fredericktown students and community.

We are sharpening our skills so we can provide even better advising, enrollment support, and resources when we return.

Our doors will reopen and our regular hours will resume on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 9:30 AM. We can’t wait to help you start that "Single Step" on your Fall schedule!
