Congratulations, Jacob Sandoval, FTF Cohort 18, for being selected as the EdD Program’s 2026 Outstanding Graduate Student! 🐾✨

Each year, the Division of Graduate Studies asks us to select a student to represent the EdD program, someone who leads with character, acts with integrity, and has a genuine ability to inspire those around them. Jacob exemplifies these qualities, and it is with great pride that we have selected Jacob for this recognition.

Jacob Sandoval (he/him) is a 2nd year Doctoral Candidate in the Educational Leadership EdD program. He currently serves his community as a Program Manager for Student Life & Leadership at Porterville College. Jacob is passionate about holistic well-being, emotional intelligence, and authentic leadership. He emphasizes the importance of representation in higher ed. leadership as it can make the difference for student success. 

Jacob’s contributions to our program go beyond academic achievement. He brings thoughtfulness and a steady presence to his work in and out of the classroom, and his influence on peers and the broader learning community has been meaningful and lasting.

A Central Valley native, Dr. Cantu Gonzalez brings over 30 years of impactful experience in public education, as a teacher, reading specialist, administrator, district leader, and superintendent. Dr. Moore is a public scholar whose work centers on equity, justice, and the lived experiences of African American students and educators. With a doctorate from Stanford University and over two decades of experience in urban school districts, her research and leadership continue to shape more just and inclusive educational spaces.
