Looking forward to an awesome workshop!

Maestra Nandy was born into an Afro-descendant family of traditional Son Jarocho dancers and musicians from Tlacotalpan, whose influence continues to be an essential part of her personal development and artistic discourse. As an Afro-Mexican dancer, choreographer, and educator, her work bridges Afro-Veracruz traditions—especially Son Jarocho—with contemporary performance and community-based artistic practice.
With formal training in Mexico and Spain and academic specialization in Afro-Latin American studies (including certification from Harvard University), her career integrates artistic excellence with research on ethno-racial education, racism, and Afro-Mexican history.
She has created choreographic works and led courses and workshops for numerous national and international companies, including the Ballet Folklórico of the University of Guanajuato, the Ballet of South Texas College (USA), Jóvenes Zapateadores, the Compañía Folklórica Sinaloense, the Compañía Folclórica de la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, among others.
She has received major national arts grants in Mexico for projects centered on Afro-descendant cultural expressions (“Diáspora” and “Fandango Negro”), and her work tours nationally and internationally. As a director, founder, performer, and educator, she collaborates with prominent institutions and festivals across Mexico, the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Her artistic profile is also defined by Community engagement and Fusion of folklore and contemporary stage language
In short, she is a multidisciplinary Afro-Mexican performing artist whose career combines tradition, scholarship, activism, and global artistic exchange.
