An outstanding Capstone showcase this year from our Sustainable Construction Management students. Truly one of the most innovative, hands-on, and professionally developed project presentations we have seen.
Students presented fully developed sustainable residential and marine infrastructure concepts integrating photovoltaic systems, high-efficiency HVAC solutions, green roofs, rainwater collection systems, renewable materials, sustainable waterfront development strategies, and resilient reinforced concrete applications for coastal and marine environments. Projects included sustainable residential homes and cabins featuring solar-powered energy systems, energy-efficient design, natural lighting optimization, green roofing systems, rainwater harvesting, engineered glulam structural systems, and environmentally conscious material selection focused on long-term performance and affordability.
Another team developed a highly impressive marine and waterfront infrastructure concept centered around sustainable boat repair and service operations, shoreline stabilization, vegetation-based erosion control, wave-energy dissipation using gravel systems, and durable reinforced concrete solutions for harsh marine conditions. The level of detail extended beyond engineering and construction into business planning and economic feasibility with truly entrepreneurial-level thinking.
In addition, some students fabricated and tested in labs sustainable reinforced concrete applications and innovative material solutions for future construction and infrastructure systems, combining technical research, sustainability principles, and practical constructability considerations.
What made the day even more meaningful was the participation and support from faculty members across the Department of Engineering & Sustainable Technologies and the College of Business, Engineering, Computational & Mathematical Sciences, along with professionals from partnering companies and industry teams.
Could not be more proud of our graduating seniors. The future is very bright for them.
