FSU CANOE (Center for Advancement of Natural and Outdoor Experiences) is creating meaningful outdoor recreation opportunities for Frostburg students — from guided trips and equipment rentals to internships and hands-on learning experiences. These opportunities help students build skills, connect with others, and explore the incredible natural resources of Western Maryland.

🎉 Alumni Spotlight! 🎉
We are thrilled to celebrate Recreation, Parks, and Sport Management alum (MS Class of 2016), Joy Shindler Rafey, on an incredible professional achievement!

Joy recently co-edited The Maryland Master Naturalist’s Handbook, published by Johns Hopkins University Press — a major project years in the making, with contributions from over 10 expert authors. The book officially launched on June 3rd and is sure to become a key resource for naturalists and educators across the state. 🌿📚

Joy shared, “My work is still informed by my studies in the Master’s program, and I’m truly proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from program faculty and my classmates.”
