Forum, South Coast Repertory Theatre, NBC, CBS, Paramount Studios, Mali Finn Casting, A Noise Within, The Chatauqua Theatre Alliance and a host of other companies.

Our recent production of 9 to 5: The Musical proved just how deeply her art resonates today.

From Olivia Amigo’s spot-on portrayal of Doralee to the timeless themes of progress, unity, and resilience championed by director Naomi Buckley, Dolly’s music and lyrics gave our student artists the perfect stage to shine, pirouette, and speak truth to power.

“This summer, Hyun Sook Kim, professor of theatre and dance, was invited by the Korea Fashion and Costume Design Association to present a creative costume artwork at its 2026 International Invited Fashion Exhibition…
Kim’s costume artwork, “The Firebird Abstraction,” was inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s ballet, “The Firebird.” She created created the piece not in the Russian ballet’s conventional style, but in a new and intuitive way to present organic and contemporary costume art form…”

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of one of our faculty colleagues, Josh Grisetti from the Theater and Dance Department.

His family has provided the following message for our community:

“It is with profound and deep heartbreak that the Grisetti family announces the untimely death of our treasured colleague, Josh Grisetti. At this time, the family asks for privacy as they grieve their beloved Josh. In time, more information will follow.”

During this difficult time, please know that support is available for both our students and our faculty/staff:

• For Students: If you have students who are struggling or in need of mental health resources, please reach out to our Assistant Dean, Hilda Aboytia, so we can connect them with the appropriate support services.

A message from Sara Guerrero:

“She [Jessica] is currently working with us, this summer, on our season's programming
‘STORYTELLING AS RESISTANCE’ - A year-long, multi-track arts programming* initiative that offers our local and surrounding residents free and low-cost access to writing, performance, and broadcast storytelling, rooted in the cultural traditions, lived experiences, and shared histories that define our community. This is supported and funded in part by the City of Santa Ana - Arts & Culture Office, the National Latinx Theatre Initiative, CSUF Grand Central Arts Center, BOFLTE Board, Ensemble, Volunteers and Individual Donors like you.”

Excerpt from Jessica’s acceptance statement:

“Through this internship with Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble, I hope to deepen my understanding of community‑centered marketing and how storytelling and outreach can be shaped with and for the people of Santa Ana. I want to learn how a Latina‑led theatre company builds relationships that go beyond promotion and instead create genuine dialogue, visibility, and belonging. Santa Ana has a rich cultural heartbeat, and I hope to gain the skills to engage with its community in ways that honor its history, amplify its voices, and invite audiences into the artistic process…”

Congratulations, Lauren, for getting cast on Hamilton!

“Cal State Fullerton alum Lauren Mariasoosay refuses to throw away her shot at her very own Broadway debut, joining the main cast of ‘Hamilton,’ playing the role of Eliza Hamilton as of May 12…

During her third year at CSUF, Mariasoosay was part of a summer production of ‘West Side Story,’ where she was scouted by an agent. Signing with her agent singlehandedly granted her access to auditions before even graduating from CSUF, which then offered her several opportunities almost instantly…

Despite the seemingly ‘nonstop’ momentum her career has recently garnered, Mariasoosay continues to remain in contact with many of her mentors from her time at CSUF and ‘coached’ the song ‘Burn’ with her CSUF vocal coach, Sarah Grandpre, which she believes solidified her role in ‘Hamilton.’

‘If I didn’t have her, I wouldn’t be here, really,’ Mariasoosay said. ‘All of those folks pushed me and also challenged me too because there were times where I didn’t necessarily believe in myself.’”
