Today, we honor the histories, diverse cultures, resilience, and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples. We celebrate the generations who have preserved their traditions, languages, and community bonds, and those who continue to shape the world today.

As a sisterhood rooted in service, spiritual growth, empowerment, and leadership, we believe that honoring others begins with listening, learning, and showing respect.

Let us turn remembrance into meaningful action:

This October, we stand in love and solidarity with everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. We honor survivors, uplift those undergoing treatment, remember those we have lost, and recognize the families and caregivers who walk beside their loved ones.

Behind every pink ribbon is a person, a story, and a community deserving of compassion. Sisterhood calls us to show up—with a listening ear, an encouraging word, a meal, a ride, or simply our presence.

💗 Honor each person’s journey without comparison.
💗 Check on loved ones and ask what support they need.

Help us nourish our communities by donating canned vegetables, fruits, beans, rice, pasta, cereal, and other non-perishable food items. Every contribution matters, and together we can offer meaningful support to our neighbors. 🥫🤝🏽

🕯️🌿 HONORING OUR ROOTS: WHAT IS ANCESTRAL VENERATION?

In celebration of Hoodoo Heritage Month, The Spirit & Truth Institute of Theology & Spiritual Studies and Hands to the Root Sacred Healing invite you to reflect on the lives and legacies of those who came before us.

Ancestral veneration means honoring our ancestors through remembrance, gratitude, and care for the wisdom and stories they left behind.

🤎 HONOR IS NOT WORSHIP.
In our spiritual practice, we do not worship our ancestors. We honor them. Worship belongs to God. Remembering our loved ones, tending their graves, preserving their photographs, and expressing gratitude for their lives are acts of love—not demonic acts.

📖 BIBLICAL CONNECTIONS
Exodus 20:12 teaches us to honor our father and mother. Psalm 78:4 calls us to share the stories of God’s works with the next generation. Hebrews 12:1 speaks of a “great cloud of witnesses,” following its account of those who lived by faith.

These passages offer meaningful connections to honor, remembrance, and spiritual legacy, while Christians differ in their understanding of ancestral practices.

🌳 CULTURALLY
Within many African American families and Hoodoo traditions, remembrance lives through family stories, recipes, songs, keepsakes, and graveside care. These practices help preserve histories of resilience, faith, creativity, and love.

✨ SPIRITUALLY & METAPHYSICALLY
Many practitioners understand ancestral remembrance as an affirmation that love and spiritual connection continue beyond physical death. Reflecting on our lineage can deepen our sense of belonging and inspire us to carry forward what was life-giving.

Honoring your roots does not require excusing harm. You can cherish wisdom, acknowledge painful history, and choose a healthier legacy for the next generation.

🕯️ SACRED WAYS TO HONOR YOUR ANCESTORS

• Speak their names and record their stories.
• Create a remembrance space with photographs and flowers.
• Offer prayers of gratitude to God for their lives.
• Visit and care for their graves.
• Prepare a treasured family recipe.
• Ask living elders about your family’s history.
• Carry forward their best values through kindness and service.

Our remembrance becomes meaningful through how we live. May we honor the love we received and become a source of love for those who follow. 🤎

Take a few moments to review your voter readiness checklist:

✅ Confirm your voter registration status.
✅ Check that your name and address are current, and submit any necessary changes.
✅ Review your state’s voter ID requirements and update your identification as needed.
✅ Verify your polling location and voting hours.
✅ Check registration deadlines, early voting options, and mail ballot eligibility and deadlines.

Don’t wait until Election Day to discover that something needs attention! Rules and deadlines vary by state, so consult your state or local election office for accurate information.
