The UF museums are an amazing resource to help internationalize courses in any discipline. In this video, Dr. Soohyoun Ahn in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition shares how she collaborated with the Harn Museum of Art to incorporate global perspectives into her course.

Dr. Amy Parziale, Instructional Assistant Professor in the Warrington College of Business, traveled to Glasgow, Scotland, this month to present at the annual European Association for International Education (EAIE) conference. Her poster presentation highlighted the outcomes of a COIL/virtual exchange project that she has implemented multiple times with partners at Universidade do Vale do Itajaí (Univali) in Brazil. The project connects her graduate course on professional writing with students in an intercultural communication course at Univali, allowing them to explore professional communication from an intercultural lens. Her findings demonstrate that the project builds global awareness and adaptability while offering students a chance to practice their professional communication skills in a real-world setting.

Congratulations to Dr. Megan Mocko, Senior Lecturer in the Warrington College of Business, and her VE partners at the University of Edinburgh for publishing on their VE project outcomes! This journal article explores both discipline-specific and intercultural learning outcomes of two data science VE projects. Based on these findings, the authors make recommendations to increase the effectiveness of VE projects in statistics and data science.

Building on their successful virtual exchange (VE) partnership, Dr. Diba Mani, Instructional Associate Professor in the College of Health & Human Performance, and her collaborators at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico have co-authored the chapter, “Large-Enrollment Human Health and Physiology Undergraduate Course Collaborative Online International Learning Between the United States and Mexico,” in the new Handbook of Using Virtual Exchange Across Disciplines. Their chapter describes a scalable VE model that connects more than 400 students per semester in the United States and Mexico, demonstrating how international and intercultural learning can be successfully integrated into large-enrollment STEM and pre-health courses. By engaging students in cross-cultural collaboration around health and wellbeing, the project highlights the potential of VE to help prepare globally competent future health professionals.

The handbook will soon be available through the UF Libraries. Congratulations to all of the authors on this impactful collaboration!

This month, the Office of Global Learning was excited to welcome UF faculty from six colleges to the Fall 2026 Virtual Exchange Training, along with their VE partners from Brazil, Chile, Germany, Ireland, Lebanon, Norway, and Spain. During this 5-week program, these faculty members will team up to design VE projects for their courses, allowing their students to gain international perspectives on their disciplines while developing global career skills.
