What is now the Entomology Club began in 2002 as "The Insect Collecting Society". Lindsay Griffin Was the inaugural President and approximately 5 students carried the society's activities. At that time, there were only 18 majors and minors in entomology with an average GPA of 2.37. In 2005, we became"The Entomology Club" and registered in 2008 as an official Student Government Organization. Today, there are almost 80 entomology club members who come from a variety of majors campus-wide. We have 74 majors and minors in entomology with an average GPA of 3.66. The Entomology Club is regarded as one of the most active in campus and outreach activities in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. We have been the only club for three years to be invited to participate in Parents' Weekend, organized by New Student Programs at UF. Club members participate in an array of activities including school visits, CALS Connection, Parents' weekend, majors fairs, dorm visits and other activities associated with either CALS or UF.

Interested in MACROPHOTOGRAPHY? looking at BUGS? taking AWESOME pictures of bugs?!??

Join us on October 9th, this FRIDAY for a COLLAB event between UF’s Entomology Club and the Society of Conservation Photography!

We are eager and excited to give everyone an awesome talk on macrophotography tips, tricks, and strategies, and we’ll even head out to NATL for your own chance to snap some awesome (one-of-a-kind) buggy pictures for yourself!!! 🐞🐜🪲

We advise you to bring your own camera, but we will also have attachable clip-on lenses that you can put on your phone camera to help you achieve the macro level shots! 📸

Weather permitting, it is our pro tip to please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes for our next-door adventure to NATL.

Our 2026 Spring camping trip to Osceola National Forest was full of bugs and fun! It is always a pleasure to see charismatic oak treehoppers and observe so many scorpions! We hope you all enjoyed spending the weekend out in nature and are ready to finish this semester strong. If you were not able to make it this year, we hope you will join us next time!

We host a camping trip every semester, so be on the look out! 🐛

Thank you for joining us as we start working on decorations and activities for BugFest! Your commitment and enthusiasm towards entomological education makes events like this possible!

We were excited to see so many new faces out at the sheet during our night collecting event. We hope that you were able to get some new insect orders or families for your collections and that, if you enjoyed seeing all the bugs, you will stop by again! :-)
