We love the EH&S Occupational Safety & Risk Management Team!

This year was marked by significant progress and collaboration across the university. The team advanced ADA accessibility efforts by achieving 66% WCAG 2.1 compliance, updating 21 of 32 online safety training courses well ahead of the 2027 deadline.

Working in partnership with UFHR, UF Research, and UF Health Shands, the team successfully recruited and onboarded a new Occupational Medicine Program Director, strengthening support for employee health and occupational medicine services across the enterprise.

The team also modernized the Respiratory Protection Program by implementing a custom online application that streamlines medical clearance tracking, compliance management, and documentation, improving both efficiency and user experience.

To support the university's growing needs, the team maintained continuity within Insurance & Risk Management through successful staff onboarding and secured approval for an additional position to enhance service delivery and risk management support.

EH&S is proud to support, serve, and collaborate with departments and units across the university. Through innovation, compliance, and service excellence, the Occupational Safety & Risk Management Team remains committed to protecting the UF community and fostering a safe and healthy environment for all.

☀️ Stay Cool, Stay Safe: Beat the July Heat! 🌡️
With temperatures rising, it’s important to protect yourself and others from heat-related illness.

Keep these simple tips in mind:
💧 Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water throughout the day
⏸️ Take regular breaks – especially if working or spending time outdoors
⚠️ Know the signs of heat stress – dizziness, headache, nausea, or fatigue
👕 Dress appropriately – wear lightweight, light-colored, breathable clothing
🤝 Use the buddy system – check in on coworkers, friends, and family
