Introducing the fastest rocket in University of Florida history: ORPHEUS & EURYDICE.
MACH 1.48. 1,622 MPH. 20.5 G. 12+ FT.
With Orpheus & Eurydice, Swamp Launch has set a new standard for student-led engineering in Florida. Supersonic flight is no longer an ambition. It’s the benchmark for every major launch that follows.
Inspired by the Greek tragedy, Orpheus descends into the underworld to bring Eurydice back. As they climb toward the light, she follows close behind, until she falls away. Our two-stage vehicle carries that same story. Eurydice, the booster, gives everything to carry Orpheus, the sustainer, out of the lower atmosphere before falling away as he climbs on alone.
For our Development team, that pursuit meant waking before dawn in early October, driving across state lines into rural Kansas, and racing the clock to test, assemble, and fly newly developed systems. This flight took our engineers into uncharted territory, carrying our proven staging experience to new altitudes and supersonic speeds.
Our earliest launch yet. We’ve made history, and we’re not looking back.
