Crisis management in hospitality goes far beyond natural disasters. 🚨

Destinations and hospitality organizations can face many different types of emergencies, often with little warning, limited time to respond and real impacts on tourists, stakeholders and the destination itself.

HMG6630 Destination and Hospitality Crisis Management helps students examine how the industry prepares for unpredictable events and apply that knowledge through the development of a Crisis Management Plan and communication strategies for real-world situations.

A few days in West Palm Beach and a lot of conversations about where Florida tourism is headed next. 🌴

We were so glad to once again join other professionals from across the state at the 2026 Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism!

From the trends to the challenges to the opportunities shaping the industry right now, we connected with others across tourism and hospitality to hear the ideas and perspectives influencing the future of Florida tourism.

It was also great to reconnect with UF alumni and industry partners whose work continues to shape tourism and communities across the state.

It’s always exciting to be part of the conversations happening in our field and surrounded by the people helping move Florida tourism forward!

What if the whole point of your next trip was to come home feeling better?

More and more travelers are booking trips that help them rest, recover and reset. Think sleep-focused hotel rooms, cryotherapy, sensory pools, nature immersion and movement and recovery programs designed around the individual guest.

Wellness tourism was once considered more of a niche offering, but it is quickly becoming part of mainstream travel, with the global market projected to reach $1.35 trillion by 2028.

As people become more intentional about protecting their mental and physical wellbeing in everyday life, those expectations do not disappear when they travel. Guests are increasingly looking for places and experiences that support the way they want to feel throughout their trip.

And once again, it all comes back to the guest experience. Hospitality evolves when the guest does, and wellness travel is one more way the industry is adapting around the people it serves.

What if the hotel was actually the destination? 🏨

For many travelers, where they stay is becoming just as important as where they go.

Florida’s historic grand hotels offer a good example. Properties like The Breakers, The Don CeSar and The Biltmore bring together architecture, history, hospitality and a strong sense of place, giving travelers the opportunity to experience a destination without filling every hour of their itinerary.
