"After decades of research and tens of thousands of published studies built around RNA-guided CRISPR systems, this work introduces a fundamentally new way to direct one of biology’s most powerful tools." Whose work are we talking about? Dr. Piyush Jain, of course, and his groundbreaking research.

A team of engineers at the University of Florida Β has developed a new form of CRISPR technology that could make diagnostics and treatments safer

In Florida, we utilize home water filters, desalination systems and industrial purification to purify our water. The membranes used in these processes affect the cost and reliability of the end products. Dr. Janani Sampath is making sure these membranes don't degrade over time. Or at least more slowly.

UF chemical engineering professor Janani Sampath is using molecular simulations to understand how polymer membranes degrade over time, paving the way for more durable…

ICYMI, last Thursday Dr. Mark Orazem gave one of his final talks before he retires. He discussed what he appreciated about his academic and research career, and mused about what the future may hold. About 80 students, staff and faculty came together to hear him and then the group took over the Arredondo Cafe for a light dinner and, of course, a cupcake cake. Because it's not a real retirement celebration without one.
