Part 2: The ones who make it possible.
Mardi Gras is a very special event for the Gator Guard Drill Team, but it could not be possible without the team members themselves. Through their timeless dedication and perseverance, they were able to show New Orleans just what the University of Florida has to offer. We are so proud of the effort and resilience that this year’s guardsmen have demonstrated. We look forward to their growth on the team in the future. Be on the lookout for one last post as we wrap up this great experience! As always, go gators! 🐊

Good afternoon Gators! Last weekend, our team was invited to judge the annual West Port High School Drill Competition. The Guardsmen had the chance to evaluate Female/Male/Mixed color guard teams as well as squad exhibition. We saw some great performances and it was a great representation of the team’s mentorship, leadership, and commitment.

With our final Mardi Gras post, the Gator Guard Drill Team would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation for every member of our support crew. This achievement would not have been possible without the men and women who made sure that we had transportation, a safe marching path, and remained hydrated throughout the parades. Their commitment to the team’s success made this trip come together. Thank you, for your hard work. We hope that next semester, those of you that can will join us in representing the best of UF.
As always, go 🐊!

As promised, gators🐊 in action! Precision, skill, and proper bearing defined our last parade. It was a long weekend, with more marching and spinning than many of us had ever done. Our team overcame every obstacle, coming out on top every time. We are proud of the hard work and strong effort that our team put forward. Gator Guard was truly the best there is at Mardi Gras.

Last day, best day!
It was all smiles for the the team as we prepared to march on our last parade, the Krewe of Rex. Fun fact, this Krewe was founded back in 1872, inspiring the traditional Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold as well as the collectible doubloons.
The team had a great time taking these pictures, and we’re not done showing off yet! Check back in tomorrow for more of our gators in action🐊.

Good afternoon gators!
There is a reason our team motto is “The Best There Is”. With great weather, clear skies and full bellies, the team marched through the heart of New Orleans in the Krewe of Mid-City. It was a great day to showcase our skills and show-off our hard work. We thank our supporters and fans for having made this opportunity possible. Check back tomorrow for the update on day three!
