Congratulations to Janeisy Davila, who receives the first iteration of the Caryn Chomsky Physical Therapy Scholarship.

This new endowed scholarship in memory of Caryn will support UF DPT students who embody her values of compassion, excellence and service in patient care.

“Being the first recipient to receive the Caryn Chomsky Physical Therapy Scholarship feels extremely meaningful to me. I was honestly in shock when Mr. Chomsky shared the news with my mom and me. I was filled with so much gratitude to know that I made an impact on their lives, just as Caryn had made such an important impact on mine. Caryn was an incredible role model to me and showed me the type of physical therapist I aspire to be in this lifetime through her compassion, trusting heart, and banter she had with her patients. I hope to make her family proud by embodying the same qualities that made Caryn such a special person and amazing physical therapist.”

“This scholarship will support me in great ways as I pursue this journey. Graduate school is not easy for anyone, and that comes with financial burden that no one wants to go through. With this scholarship, I am so thankful that it can provided any help on my parents and allow me to focus on learning, growing clinically as a future physical therapist.

I hope future recipients get to know the Chomsky family and know that she had a way of making patients feel comfortable and encouraged.

My favorite thing about Caryn was the way she approached physical therapy with both creativity, genuine care and always having the biggest smile. Regardless of who you were, she made sure to take the time to get to know you and she always included me in any opportunity to be involved with getting to know the patients as well. I can’t wait to see how far this scholarship goes and how it will help other students with any financial burden.”

Last week, members from the Class of 2028 presented to faculty and peers in the student-led Journal Club Symposium.

These student impressively organized and delivered informative presentations in research topics ranging from lower back pain intervention to pediatric rehabilitation measures.

Clinical Match Day!

The Class of 2028 students have all been matched to their first clinical placement.

This milestone marks a year of hard work in the classroom, and they can now look forward to applying these skills on-site next spring.
