African Student Union at UF The African Student Union was founded to support and unite African students and promote awareness for African issues and culture to all students at UF

Welcome to the official page of the African Student Union (ASU) at the University of Florida. Through ASU, we strive to inspire lives and create new leaders. We, the African Student Union, have founded this organization to support and unite African students and to promote awareness of African issues and culture to all students and the Gainesville community. The purpose of this organizatio

n is three fold; to create and encourage relationships among African students at the University of Florida, the Gainesville community and other organizations, create and foster goodwill, friendship and understanding among African students on the campuses of higher institution of learning in Alachua County, and finally educate members and interested parties in Gainesville and the university community and elsewhere about African culture, traditions and issues affecting the well-being of the African continent. This organization was formed to represent the MANY and DIVERSE African cultures. Join our group, whether you are from the north, south, east, west, or just looking for an interesting group to join! You don't even have to be African to join! Yes that means all you Nigerians, Ghanians, Tunisians, Egyptians, Sudanese, Moroccans, Somalians, Ethiopians, Zimbabweans, South Africans, and any anyone else who knows that their country is in the best continent in the world! So Come and Rep Your Roots!

Meet Adamu! He is one of our fashion directors and is a 4th year Biochemistry Major. His favorite part of about being fashion show director is the fact that it gives him a chance to explore his creativity and show the audience how broad and diverse African Fashion is and how it has evolved over time.
