Earlier this year, our National Coral Disturbance Coordinator, Caroline McLaughlin, and our Pacific Coral Disturbance Coordinator, Renee Crisostomo, were in Puerto Rico to discuss the ongoing coral reef initiatives in the U.S. coral reef jurisdictions.

Our staff hosted educational sessions & activities focused on invasive soft corals, one of the most pressing threats to coral reefs. Their efforts advance communication across jurisdictions, supporting the development of response plans, connecting managers to training opportunities and tools, and helping to build the capacity needed to respond effectively when disturbances occur.
