A Look Into Our Cicerones’ Summer: From Campus to Careers 🐊✈️💼👔

From coast to coast, and across the globe, our Cicerones are spending their summer gaining experience through internships and careers that make an impact. No matter where they go, they lead with service, professionalism, and passion at their core. We’re so proud of all you’re accomplishing and can’t wait to welcome everyone back this fall! 💙

Today, we honor Juneteenth: a crucial moment in American history. On June 19, 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that all enslaved people were finally free. This day marks a pivotal turning point towards the true end of slavery in the United States and is a powerful reminder of delayed justice and enduring resilience.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on our nation’s history, celebrate Black freedom and culture, and recognize the ongoing work needed to build a more just and equitable future. The Florida Cicerones are committed to honoring this legacy of strength and perseverance and continuing our efforts to create inclusive spaces for all.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Allie Sigl. Allie was the heart of what our Cicerones family stands for, someone who led with purpose and loved with intention. She brought a light to our community that is impossible to replace. Allie held herself to the highest standard while always making sure those around her felt seen, valued, and included. She didn’t just strive to be her best, she made everyone around her better too.

To know Allie was to know someone who gave everything she had, to her goals, to her community, and to the people around her. She had a rare gift for pushing herself forward while extending her hand back to bring others along with her.

Our hearts are with everyone who loved her. She touched more lives than she will ever know. As we move forward, we ask that you carry with you the passion, dedication, and kindness that defined Allie in everything she did.
