University of Florida Association of Asian Alumni The Association of Asian Alumni creates and sustains connections among alumni and students at the University of Florida.

The Association of Asian Alumni (AAA) at the University of Florida was developed during the 2009-2010 school year by undergraduates in the UF Asian American Student Union (AASU). Through perseverance, AASU presented the AAA to the UF Alumni Association and was able to make the AAA an official affiliate group. Now, the AAA exists to help you connect back with your university and learn about what’s happening within the APIA community. The first board was selected by students and began their tenure in 2012.

🇵🇭 October is Filipino American History Month!

Filipinos have been part of the American story since 1587, when the first recorded Filipinos landed in what is now California. Since then, Filipino Americans have shaped this country as sailors, farmworkers, nurses, veterans, and community builders. Larry Itliong and Philip Vera Cruz, for example, helped launch the 1965 Delano Grape Strike and the farmworker movement.

This month, we invite you to learn, reflect, and celebrate:
📚 Explore Filipino American history at fanhs-national.org
🍽️ Support Filipino-owned businesses
💬 Share a story from your family or community in the comments

To our Filipino alumni, thank you for all you bring to the Gator community. What does this month mean to you?

This September, we are proud to spotlight Michael Do, a University of Florida alumnus, First 300 member, and past UF AAA board member who continues to support scholarships, alumni events, and Asian American history programs.

A zoology major at UF, he went on to earn his OD from The Ohio State University and is practice owner at Adairsville Eye Associates in Adairsville, Georgia (also affiliated with Georgia Vision Professionals in Woodstock).

Huge thank you to everyone who came out to Pontoon Brewing in Sandy Springs, GA to celebrate the official release of Samaya! Congrats to our President-Elect Shreya on bringing her 🍓strawberry 🥭mango gose (with a hint of turmeric 🌟) to life, a b**r inspired by her South Asian roots.

🏈 We also celebrated with during the Auburn game and our exciting win!

🍓Samaya🥭 is still pouring across GA & FL with Pontoon Brewing. Go grab one & thank Shreya!

Thank you + for making this so special. 🐊
