Psi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota sponsors a Fund for students who need extra assistance in funding their music lessons in Knox College’s Department of Music. Since 2014, the Fund has helped to encourage students to take lessons when they might not be able to afford them otherwise. It has also helped to encourage non-music majors to try something new to develop their musical skills.
The funds are awarded every quarter through recommendations by the Knox College Department of Music. Psi Chapter has been working to add money to the account set aside for this Music Fund, but the pandemic reduced its ability to fundraise for a couple of years due to COVID restrictions.
The Chapter is asking for gifts to supplement the Music Fund, setting a goal of $1,500 to cover the cost of lessons for at least one year (one student per term). Your support is encouraged and will make a difference for deserving student musicians at Knox College!
Update: WOW! You are amazing! We just started this campaign and we are already at 70% of our $1,500 goal!
We have decided to "stretch" our goal a bit to $2,500, which means that we can provide several more terms of lessons or possibly have more than one award for a term to deserving music students. Thank you for all your help and consideration. it means so much to us and to the music program at Knox.
