Not every college journey starts right after high school.

For Sabrina Marquez, the path to her dream looked a little different. As an artist, wife, mother, and adult learner, she came to Vol State ready to invest in herself and explore where her passion for art could take her.

In the Visual Arts Program, Sabrina is building her portfolio, gaining hands-on experience, and seeing her work come to life most visibly in a mural she painted inside of the Warf building supporting the Mathematics & Science division.

But her biggest accomplishment might be showing her family what's possible when you keep pursuing your goals.

Your path doesn't have to look like anyone else's. It just has to be yours. πŸ’™πŸŽ¨

For Mykael, Vol State was the bridge between where he was and where he wanted to be.

The Physical Therapist Assistant program gave him hands-on skills, encouragement from dedicated faculty, and a community that helped him succeed every step of the way.

And the results came quickly.

β€œI had job offers instantly... probably 90% of us did.”

Before graduation, Mykael had opportunities waiting. Today, he's building a rewarding career helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence.

Watch his story and see how Vol State creates pathways to purpose-filled careers.

We're celebrating an incredible milestone for Vol State's Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) graduates!

Through hard work, hands-on learning, and determination, 15 students completed the program and took the next step toward healthcare careers.

β€’ 100% registered for their certification exam before graduation
β€’ 13 graduates have tested so far, and everyone has passed
β€’ Students earned certifications through both ASCP and AMT
β€’ The cohort's ASCP first-attempt pass rate exceeded the national average

These accomplishments reflect the dedication of our students and the career-ready skills they've developed along the way. Congratulations to our newest MLT graduates on this well-earned achievement.

As new cohorts across our health sciences programs begin classes this week, we're excited to cheer them on as they start their own journey toward success.
