It was a great opportunity for students to share their scholarly work, connect with research mentors, and explore new opportunities in research.

Congratulations to the recipients of the Top Student Researcher Award! And a big thank-you to all the students, faculty, mentors, judges, and organizers who helped make the summit a success.

Last week, JSSOM kicked off the Nutrition Medicine Initiative with a curriculum development workshop at Open Gates in Galveston.

Students, faculty, staff, and external partners spent the afternoon sharing ideas and discussing how nutrition medicine can become a stronger part of medical education and future patient care.

The event included remarks from JSSOM Dean Dr. Bianco and School of Health Professions Dean Dr. Vines, along with a keynote presentation from Dr. Shreela Sharma.

This multidisciplinary effort will continue with additional workshops as the group works toward developing a structured approach to nutrition medicine education throughout the JSSOM curriculum.

UTMB JSSOM is proud to participate in AAMC's Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) Global Network!

The Global Network comprises US medical schools that either send and/or receive medical students with international partners. UTMB's participation in VSLO Global Network is connecting medical students with new opportunities for global health education and cross-cultural exchange.

We also look forward to welcoming more visiting students to Galveston and growing UTMB's international footprint!
