TS Lone Star State is officially on its way! After getting a full tank of fuel, Capt. Wade Howell ’02 and crew have set course for home.

As we wait for the ships arrival here is a video message from the crew.

You can follow the ship’s journey with our ship tracker, and we’ll share the best Galveston locations to watch it arrive at homeport on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Due to safety, security and operational measures associated with bringing the ship to its homeport for the first time, we will not be hosting an on-campus public event until later this year. We’ll share details soon!

Campus Update due to Tropical Storm Edouard

Texas A&M University at Galveston officials continue to closely monitor the risk for potential heavy rainfall and road flooding associated with a developing tropical storm Edouard.

At this time, campus will operate as normal on Tuesday and Wednesday. Dining services will maintain regular mealtimes.

Should conditions cause campus operations or currently scheduled events or activities to change, information will be communicated through Sea Aggie alerts.

Students, faculty and staff should continue to monitor Sea Aggie Alerts, campus email, campus social media (), and the Galveston Campus mobile app (available on App Store & Google Play) for information related to campus impacts.

Lone Star State Schedule Update

TS Lone Star State is officially on its way home to Galveston and Texas A&M Maritime Academy and is expected to arrive the morning of Sept. 8th.

The future of training the next-generation mariners is almost here!

You can follow the ship’s journey from Philadelphia with our ship tracker, and we’ll share the best Galveston locations to watch it arrive at homeport on Tuesday, Sept. 8th.

Due to safety, security and operational measures associated with bringing the ship to its homeport for the first time, we will not be hosting a public event until later this year and will be sharing details soon!

The wait is almost over! The Lone Star State begins its inaugural voyage to the Galveston Campus on Monday, Aug. 31st. Campus Update due to expected Inclement Weather.

Texas A&M University at Galveston officials are closely monitoring the risk for potential heavy rainfall, road flooding and winds Tuesday and Wednesday associated with a developing tropical system. Local impacts and implications for our area are currently unknown.

At this time, campus will operate as normal on Tuesday and Wednesday. Dining services will maintain regular mealtimes.

Today, Captain Wade Howell ’02 became the first Master of TS LONE STAR STATE, the Texas A&M Maritime Academy’s new training ship and fourth National Security Multi-Mission Vessel. This historic milestone has been made possible by decades of work by countless dedicated supporters – thank you! Details on welcoming the Lone Star State home will be provided in the coming days. Love the Sound of Marching, Singing, and Barked Orders on Campus

Office windows can’t prevent the familiar melody and words from reaching staff ears inside when Texas A&M University of Galveston voices unite together as a force for belting out the “Aggie War Hymn.”

The newest cadets are getting a good enthusiastic introduction to Sea Aggie life on the Pelican Island campus.

Cadet commanders are putting the new Texas A&M Maritime Academy students through their marching paces and promising plenty more practicing ahead. Gig’em!

Safety First! During Orientation Week, our new cadets are introduced to the maritime world with safety training for shipboard emergencies. On a hot summer day, it is refreshing to get the hoses out and practice using them for the first time. Many thanks to the Fire & Life Safety team from the TAMUG Environmental Health and Safety Department for showing the cadets the proper way to handle the gear. In addition to firefighting, the cadets were also introduced to flood control in our damage control simulator. Under the watchful eye of the staff and Corps leadership, the cadets practiced stopping live leaks.

In order to be a great leader, you must first learn how to follow and work in teams. Corps training continued with lectures on followership and both personal and social responsibility. RADM Fossum, the University Title IX officer, and the Commandant briefed the cadets on what it means to be a good shipmate, what behaviors are prohibited, and how to intervene and report when someone is conducting themselves in an unbecoming manner.

The TAMMA class of 2030 is learning quickly how to march in formation and is already practicing the pass-in-review.

Don't forget to join us on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Clock Tower for the Culmination Ceremony. Bring a lawn chair, sunscreen, and water!
