Howdy! We are kicking off the beginning of the semester with spotlighting miss Sydney Zetterberg.
Miss Zetterberg is from Kewanee, Illinois (hog capital of the world), is one of two heads of risk management committee, and is a senior Marine Biology major who plans on graduating December 2017.
Throughout her time in SOUL, she has made great connections that have helped pave a path towards achieving her future career goals. Sydney has been volunteering at UTMB in Galveston and will begin shadowing an oncology surgeon this semester. Through her connections from speakers and volunteering inside and outside SOUL, miss Zetterberg continues to achieve great things. Her next step to achieving her future career goals is to be accepted into a Physician Assistant Master’s Program at UTMB or Baylor in Houston. She continues to prove everyday that if you believe in something enough and work hard enough, you are able to do anything you want!
Along with her academics Sydney balances a job, crossfit, volunteer hours, going to concerts with friends, and spending beach days with her best dog friend Jax.
Congratulations on all of your hard work and success Sydney! We will continue to watch you grow and achieve more magnificent things!

As the semester comes to a close, the Sisterhood of University Leaders would like to acknowledge three important women!

Tori Hanson will be graduating this December with her B.S. in University studies - Oceans and One Health with a double minor in Chemistry and Marine Biology. Miss Hanson has been a member since Fall 2013 and has been actively involved in other organizations as well. Along with being an active member of SOUL, Tori also was a desk clerk for a year and a Community Leader for another year with Residents Life, Team Leader in Traditions Council for two of her three year membership, President of Maritime ball (previously Vice President and Secretary) of her three years, and a SALT Camp Counselor for three year.
Miss Hanson exhibits leadership wherever she goes and with any position given to her. She takes the initiative and has impacted everyone around her. Congratulations Tori, we will miss you but are anxious to watch you continue doing amazing things!

Jaisy Castillo will be moving to the College Station campus for the spring semester to pursue Sports Management with a double minor in Spanish and Communications. Miss Castillo has been a member of SOUL since Fall 2015 and has been actively involved in the organization. Jaisy was brought on as a Community Relations Intern for the Houston Dynmos this past summer, where she discovered her passion for Sports Management. She took the imitative to get her internship spring of her freshman year, determined to gain experience and establish herself as a confident and strong woman leader in the professional world. We are excited to see what else she will accomplish in College Station and with Sports Management. We will miss you and good luck!

Lastly, we would like to acknowledge the amazing work ethic and initiative taken by secretary Monika McGuinness this semester. Monika is working on her B.S. in Marine Biology and a minor in Diving Methods and Technologies all while helping with a lot of behind the scenes work with SOUL. As secretary, her role is not suppose to call for the actions she has taken to ensure that events are executed correctly and smoothly and other behind the scenes tasks. She has gone above and beyond with helping where she is not required to. Miss McGuinness exhibits the qualities of a SOUL member; ambitious, initiative, selfless, and helps without expecting something in return or recognition. However, your help and work has not gone unnoticed! We are proud to have you serving as the 2016-2017 Secretary. Thank you, from all of us!

All three women have developed and enhanced qualities that will get them far in the professional world and daily life. We are proud of the character of just not these three women but also of the members and alumni.

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." -John C. Maxwell

"Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire team-mates and customers." Robin S. Sharma

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone out there! Have a wonderful Christmas Break!
