🚜🌾 Getting the fields ready for barley season! 🍺

Dave was out mowing on his tractor before it decided to call it quits! Brian and Dave have been busy mowing and preparing the fields for planting at the Anne Arundel Urban Farm Research Clinic.

This year, we're trying something new: Faro, a malting barley variety used in brewing b**r! 🍻 We're excited to see how this barley grows and explore its potential from the field to the brewery. We'll also be using it as a cover crop!

From planting barley to the possibility of a future brew, we're looking forward to seeing how this season unfolds. 🌱🍺

A recent Bay-Wise visit to a home in Annapolis left us feeling truly inspired! 🌿

The homeowner is in the process of transforming her ornamental plantings into native plants and has already made amazing progress. But what really caught our attention was her creative use of natural materials to support her plants.

She crafted beautiful willow domes, obelisks, and fencing that are not only functional but also add charm and character to her garden. We were especially impressed by her inventive tomato cages and peony crowns!

Pictured are a willow tomato cage and a peony crown. She learned how to make these by watching YouTube videos and sourced the willow online.

What a wonderful example of creativity, resourcefulness, and finding beautiful ways to work with nature in the garden! 🌱

The Anne Arundel County Fair is happening today through Sunday, September 20th, and Cluckingham Palace—hosted by our dedicated Anne Arundel 4-H Poultry Project members—is officially the most popular spot on the fairgrounds!

🐣 THE EGGS ARE HATCHING! 🐣

Head over to the Poultry/Rabbit Barn to witness the ultimate 4-H fairgrounds magic. The incubators are active, and our newest, fluffiest royal residents are pipping their way into the world right now.

The Anne Arundel County Fair is in full swing today through Sunday, September 20th, and the 4-H Goat Barn has officially entered the Danger Zone!

If you're heading to the fairgrounds, you've GOT to swing by to check out our hilarious 4-H goat setup—complete with our AI-generated Maverick & Goose signs! 🎬🌾

Our 4-H members have put so much heart (and humor!) into raising their animals and decorating the barn this year. Come meet the real-life Top Gun aviators, say hi to our hardworking youth, and grab some epic selfies! 📸✨

Proceed with caution into the Poultry/Rabbit Barn at the Anne Arundel County Fair! Our Anne Arundel 4-H members have posted "BEWARE OF RABBITS" signs, but don't let them fool you—these bunnies are only guilty of stealing hearts. 💘

Underneath the warning signs, you'll find the fluffiest, floppiest-eared rabbits in town hanging out in their cages, fully prepared to be ridiculously photogenic.

Get ready for some classic horsepower! Head down to the track this Saturday morning for the Antique Tractor Pull at the Anne Arundel County Fair!

We’re thrilled that Dave Myers, our University of Maryland Extension Agriculture & Food Systems Educator, will be your official MC on the mic for all the pulling action! 🎙️🌾
