When the University of Georgia Terry College of Business launched the student-managed Arch Bond Fund with $1.45 million in backing from the UGA Foundation, Bay Point Advisors, and Angel Oak Capital Advisors, LLC , the goal was ambitious: give students real-world, institutional-level exposure to fixed-income investing. Over its inaugural year, 33 student managers did exactly that, building the fund’s infrastructure from the ground up, pitching securities weekly, and evaluating credit markets to construct a diversified portfolio.

For many students, the fund opened doors to a massive side of finance that often gets overlooked. As founding co-president David Giardi noted, while many students instinctively focus on investment banking or private equity, credit markets are significantly larger and offer immense career opportunities.

That hands-on experience translated directly into immediate career success, Giardi and fellow founding leaders Patrick Ingalls and Leon Cohen have already launched their post-graduation careers as investment analysts at Canaccord Genuity Group Inc., Truist, and Goldman Sachs.

Reflecting on the milestone, Ingalls shared that building the Arch Bond Fund from scratch was easily one of the most meaningful experiences of his time at UGA, adding that it will be deeply rewarding to return to campus decades from now and see how far future generations of students have taken it. As a new cohort of student managers takes over the reins this fall, the legacy of hands-on financial leadership at Terry continues to grow.
