IRC at Coastline Community College

IRC at Coastline Community College The Intercultural Resource Center seeks to create and nurture an environment that encourages diversity through dialogue, exploration, and community engagement.

We offer students mentorship, workshops, and leadership opportunities to support their growth. APACT (AAPI Program for Advancing Completion and Transfer) is dedicated to your academic success and personal well-being. Because you want to transfer to a four-year institution and/or complete an associate degree, you are automatically a part of APACT. APACT helps you gain access to programs and service

s designed to support you throughout your educational journey here at Coastline. Oh, and APACT is absolutely free! Here are the benefits of being an APACT student:

For first-years (students with less than 30 units):
One Step Ahead (OSA) Program: Your first year in college should set a firm foundation for academic and personal excellence, but you should also have fun doing it! OSA will be providing workshops, college visits, field trips, cultural activities and socials to create a student community of support to ensure excellence and ease your transition into college. For second-years (students with more than 30 units):
AAPI Sophomores Accelerating Progress (ASAP): Congratulations! You are so close to meeting your educational goals and ASAP can help you stay on track to reach them quickly. Through ASAP, you will have access to workshops, college/field trips, and social events designed to help you reach your academic and personal goals. For all students:
guideU Student-Mentor Connection service: Mentorship is central to APACT’s methods for student success, so great news! As an APACT student you are assigned a guideU mentor. Our mentors are friendly, knowledgeable folks that answer your questions within 24 hours and offer encouragement. They’re also really excited to meet you.

"Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) are vital to ensuring that higher education is available to the most vulnerable Asian American and Pacific Islander students."

"Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) are vital to ensuring that higher education is available to the most vulnerable Asian American and Pacific Islander students. Contrary to the false narrative that Asian Americans are overrepresented in our colleges, there remain many impediments to pursuing the dream of higher education for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and AANAPISIs help remove some of those barriers." - David Inoue, Executive Director
