Southwestern is a selective & independent four-year undergraduate national liberal arts college consisting of The Brown College of Arts and Sciences and The Sarofim School of Fine Arts. It was the first institution of higher learning in Texas, chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1840. Southwestern is located in historic Georgetown, Texas, just north of Austin, the state capital. Austin is known

for its vibrant culture, live music, theatre, film, and art - an "intellectual capital" and one of the country's best places to live. Southwestern's 701-acre campus features tree-lined 100-acre central grounds and a lush, green academic mall. Our facilities include two live-performance theaters, spacious sports/ recreational areas, a human performance laboratory, an aquatic animal research laboratory, an observatory and a teaching greenhouse. More than eighty-four percent of Southwestern students live in spacious on-campus apartments or residential halls.

History major Ethan Sledge ’27 made history himself in April, becoming the first student to be inducted into Southwestern University’s first Divine Nine fraternity on campus. Heading into the fall Greek Life recruitment cycle, Sledge is looking to establish The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated's presence on campus and further spread the organization’s mission of service and community-building.

Southwestern University has once again been recognized as one of the nation’s top undergraduate institutions, earning a coveted spot in The Princeton Review's annual college guide "The Best 392 Colleges." Southwestern was touted as one of the best institutions in Texas, earning #1 rankings in the state for faculty and career services. SU also earned national rankings for Greek life and campus recreation.

Our newest Pirates headed out for Pirate Adventures, exploring some of the best of Georgetown, Austin, and Central Texas while trying something new and making memories with new friends.

From river floats and baseball games to bowling, caverns, and more, it was a pretty great way to kick off the Southwestern Experience! 🏴‍☠️💛
